The GCF hosted it’s annual New Year breakfast, at the GCF Headquarters Horton Lodge. In attendance were GCF members, directors & staff, and programs for the year 2026 were discussed.

The monograph, “Development: Not By Economics Alone” by GCF’s Emeritus Chairperson Dr. Nimal Sanderatne, was held on Friday, 9th January, with the attendance of Dr. Sanderatne’s family and well-wishers.

The monograph emphasises that development is the result of a variety of processes, in which economic actions are supplemented by political, social and cultural norms and initiatives. The monograph also discusses that the quality of human capital depends, in addition to knowledge and skills acquired through formal education, but also on a further set of deeper, non-formal processes embedded in society’s culture and value systems.

The book is available for purchase at the Gamani Corea Foundation, 21 Horton Place, Colombo 07.
